While Microsoft’s Extended Showcase did reveal a bit more of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, it was not the sort of trailer fit for a conference. No real gameplay shown, just some environments and a glimpse of the graphical fidelity. It’s possible the game may not even ship in 2022, depending on when development had actually begun.

Looking at the news cycle and my subscriptions, E3 2021 does seem to be officially over, and a strange quiet has settled over my feeds. It’s a strange sort of whiplash, caught up in a storm of so many trailers and announcements that one can’t hope to keep up, only to suddenly be left in the still air of silence. No announcements, no new trailers, just the wait. Perhaps I’ll revise some of my draft set for Monday to take this unusual quiet into account, though I imagine we won’t have to wait long until Sony decides to launch their “counter-attack”. In the meantime, if you’re eager for industry discussion, I spontaneously wrote a lot of words yesterday regarding Capcom, Square Enix, and Nintendo at E3. It’s obnoxiously long, so maybe save it for several trips to the toilet or something. As I mentioned there, I will have another post on Monday (June 21st) with a more broad look at E3.

Tuesday at 8pm ET I’ll be live on the Twitch channel to discuss the event in full with my friends Zack and Joey.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to have the E3 chat stream. We will have other collaborative streams in the future, however.

For those of you uncertain of what games we were discussing, here’s an assortment of links to trailers that will likely take me far too long to compile than is worth it. Hopefully I don’t forget anything.
