I don’t actually know what else to say. I mean, there’s plenty more that both Steve and I could discuss, but I don’t know what I could possibly bring up here that we didn’t really get to discuss in the podcast. Perhaps the theory of the film’s central theme being inevitability? Yet I am far less certain about that than I am of Infinity War’s being sacrifice. In addition, it would still require I sit here and discuss the story in greater detail. While the “spoiler embargo” may have lifted, I would still prefer not ruin anything for those unable to see the film.

Nevertheless, it is clear that the more I think about this film, the more I want to rewatch it. That is all the markings of a good film you need, and while I haven’t felt that way about every Marvel movie – did Antman and the Wasp really come out last summer? – I’ve certainly felt that way about the ones made by the Russo brothers. I can only hope whoever replaces them is able to approach this material with the same compelling themes to drive these strong, character-driven stories.
